The Mets took the first game of the four game set with the Brewers last night and look to take the second tonight! Last night Granderson got things started off early with a homer and then it became the Bartolo Colon show as he dominated the Brewers’ lineup. The Mets added more runs thanks to a continued bump in offense from Cespedes and Flores. As a bonus, Familia pitched a clean ninth for his 20th save of the season.
Matt Harvey gets the start for the Mets. The Dark Knight is 4-8 (league leading in losses) over 12 starts and 67.1 innings with a 4.95 ERA. Harvey found himself as the hard luck loser in his last start allowing only 1 run in a game the Mets lost 1-0. In his last two starts he has allowed 1 ER over 14.0 innings with 1 walk, and 9 K’s. Surprisingly, Matt has never faced the Brewers before. He has faced Aaron Hill, who is 3-9 against him.
The Mets bats will get a look at Junior Guerra who is 3-1 over 7 starts and 42.1 innings with an ERA of 3.61. In his last two starts he has allowed 7 runs, 6 earned over 12.1 innings. Guerra made his major league debut at 30 years old with the White Sox last year (3 games, 4.0 innings, 6.75 ERA) and was selected off waivers by the Brewers. Rene Rivera is the only Met who has seen him, and he is 0-1.
Let’s Go Mets!
