Game Preview: White Sox vs Mets

Yesterday the Mets beat the White Sox 1-0 thanks to the first strong, strong Harvey start of the season. The world is a beautiful place again. See you next Harvey Day! In the mean time, we get to see Steven Matz today, who has been ok. He’s 7-1 on the season over as many starts with a 2.36 ERA and 49.2 innings with 50 K’s. In his last 7 starts he is 7-0 over 48.0 innings and 49 K’s with a 1.13 ERA. He’s been ok. His last outing was the 4th time this season he held his opponent scoreless. This will be his first start against the Chicago White Sox and has faced two members of the White Sox while they were on other teams:

  • Frazier 1-6, HR
  • Jackson 0-1

Mat Latos is 6-1 this season, his first with Chicago, over 9 starts and 51.0 innings with a 4.06 ERA. His last start was his first quality start since April 24th (and just barely, as he allowed 3 ER over 6.0 innings). In his first four starts of the season he pitched 24.1 innings with a 0.74 ERA. Since then he has pitched 26.2 innings over 5 starts with a 7.09 ERA. Last year he was 0-1 against the Mets in 2 games and 10.0 innings allowing 5 ER and 11 hits. The Mets have the following numbers against Latos:
