The Mets started their series with the Braves off on the right foot with a 6-3 win! The start of the night was Curtis Granderson who had 5 RBI’s thanks to a Grand Slam and then a solo shot. Matt Harvey still wasn’t quite right, but he wasn’t deplorable and the bullpen was able to hold the win. If the Mets win today, then they have taken each series on this road trip.
Steven Matz is 1-1 on the season over 8.2 innings with an ERA of 7.27. However, that doesn’t tell the story. His first start was horrible where he allowed 7 ER over 1.2 innings. In his last start he shutout the Indians over 7.0 innings holding them to 3 hits and walking only 2 while striking out 9. In one start against the Braves last year he held the Braves to 1 ER over 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2 over 5.0 innings. The Braves have the following numbers against Matz:

The Mets will get their first 2016 look at Jhoulys Chacin who is starting his first season with the Braves organization. In his first two starts he has yet to record a decision over 11.1 innings with an ERA of 2.38. The last time he faced the Mets was his 2014 season debut where he allowed 4 ER over 8 hits and 5 walks over 5.0 innings while striking out 4 in Colorado.
