Game Preview: Mets @ Phillies

And just like that, the Mets have won 3 of their last 4! After bumbling out of the gate, the Mets are heading into Philly off of a series win and a weekend where their bats came alive! The kicker? They head into another hitter friendly stadium. In the first two games of the series in Cleveland, the Mets powered 7 homers. Early in the game yesterday the Mets had 5 hits with runners in scoring position. The Mets dropped a series against the Phillies earlier this season, so they’ll be looking for revenge these next three games.

Noah Syndergaard will be making his third start of the season where he is 1-0 over 13.0 innings striking out 21 batters while walking only 2. Over that stretch he has allowed only one run. Last year he faced the Phillies twice winning both starts allowing only 2 ER over 12.1 innings while striking out 15 and walking only 2. The Phillies have the following numbers against Noah:

  • Herrera 0-6
  • Howard 1-5, HR, 2 K
  • Rupp 1-3, 2 K
  • Blanco 0-2, 2 K
  • Ruiz 1-2, 2B

The Mets bats will get another look this season at Jerad Eickhoff who is 1-1 over 2 starts and 12.0 innings of work this season walking 2 and striking out 12 while posting an ERA of 1.50. He was the losing pitcher in his first start of the season, which was against the Mets were he allowed 2 ER, 3 total, over 5 hits and 5.0 innings. He followed that up with 7.0 innings of shutout ball against San Diego. The Mets have the following numbers against him:
