Game Preview: Mets @ Phillies

The Mets play game three of four today in Philly behind arm of Zack Wheeler. Wheeler is 7-8 this season with a 3.48 ERA over 23 games and 134.1 innings. In his last start, he didn’t quite have his off-speed stuff, but he worked through it and still had an excellent line of allowing one run over 6.2 innings, which is a sign of his maturation process. In his last seven games he has pitched 45.1 innings with a 1.59 ERA. In two games against the Phillies this year he has tossed 13.0 innings and allowed 3 ER with 13 strikeouts. The Phillies have the following numbers against Wheeler:

  • Utley 1-10
  • Rollins 3-10
  • Revere 2-7, 2B
  • Ruiz 1-7, 2B
  • Asche 3-6, 3B
  • Byrd 1-6, HR

The Mets bats will get a crack at Kyle Kendrick who is 5-11 over 23 starts and 144.1 innings this year with a 4.74 ERA. After a string of below average starts, he had a good one against Houston his last time out allowing only 1 ER over 7.0 innings of work. In three starts against the Met this year he has allowed 19 hits and 12 ER over 17.1 innings, an ERA of over 6. The Mets have the following numbers against Kyle:

  • Wright 15-50, 3 2B, 3 HR
  • Murphy 9-36, 2B, HR
  • Duda 4-23, 3 2B, HR
  • Tejada 9-24, HR
  • Granderson 1-11
  • Lagares 6-8, 2B
