The Mets look to salvage the series in Houston this afternoon as they look to avoid the sweep. The Mets dropped their second game in a row in Houston yesterday as they were unable to help Niese out after a bad start. The Mets will be sending Schwinden today as he takes on Rodriquez of the Astros.
Schwinden made his first start of the season last time out. He pitched 4.0 innings, 6 runs, 5 earned. Since Chris made limited starts last year, he doesn’t have any numbers against the young Astros team. He will need to watch out for the surprising offensive powers of the Astros who score a lot and get on base more.
Wandy Rodriguez will get the start against the Mets this afternoon. On the season he is 2-2 over 5 games on the season with a sparkling 1.72 ERA. In his last two starts he pitched 13.0 innings allowing 2 ER, 5 BB and 12 K. Last season he pitched 7.0 innings against the Mets where he picked up the win after allowing 1 ER.
