Some quick hits to go with your Saturday morning onion bagel:
1) At one point in April the Mets were 5 games out of first place. Now they hold first place by a full game (and the team they were trailing is now 1.5 games behind them). At the end of the month yesterday, the Mets finished with a 14-9 record. A winning April!
2) The Mets offense exploded last night 9-1 with four homers. I'm not saying Citi isn't a place where homers die (because I feel we need more stats before we can make that claim) but looking at CBP last night, that field seems small. Like really small. I didn't realize it until last night, but wow. Thats a small park.
3) Forbes released their Mascot rankings yesterday. The San Diego Chicken was in first followed by the Philly whatever and in third was the loveable Mr. Met.
4) The Mets pitching last night was fantastic thanks to a 7 inning performance by Jon Niese.
5) Atlanta snapped their 9 game losing streak last night. The Nationals took sole possesion of second place.
