Game Preview: Mets @ Dodgers

What do I have in common with the New York Mets bats? We both fell asleep last night before 10 PM eastern time! The Mets lost a tough pitcher’s battle last night against the Dodgers and look to bounce back tonight!

Chris Bassitt has made 10 starts and pitched 59 innings this season with a 3.66 ERA, 4.31 FIP, 1.169 WHIP and a 109 ERA+. He hit a rough patch in mid-May, allowing 12 runs over two starts and 10 2/3 innings (he’s only allowed a total of 24 runs this season). Chris bounced back though in his last start, holding the Phillies to one run over six innings from two hits and three walks. He did face the Dodgers in 2021 and it didn’t go so well – Bassitt allowed four runs from nine hits and a walk over six innings. The Dodgers have the following career numbers against him:

  • Mookie Betts 1-4
  • Kevin Pillar 1-4
  • Austin Barnes 2-3, 2B, K
  • Gavin Lux 0-2, BB
  • Justin Turner 2-3, 2B

The Mets bats get a resurgent Tyler Anderson tonight. In his career, Anderson has a 4.49 ERA, 4.35 FIP, 1.292 WHIP, and a 102 ERA+. This season, over nine games and 49.2 innings with a 2.90 ERA, 3.26 FIP, 1.007 WHIP and a 143 ERA+. Anderson has had one bad start this year where he allowed seven runs from 10 hits over 6.0 innings. Since then he has tossed 21 innings over three games, allowing only two runs from 17 hits and a walk. He made a start against the Mets as a Pirate last year before he was traded to the Mariners. In that start he allowed two runs from six hits over five innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Anderson:

  • Eduardo Escobar 2-11, 2B, 2 BB, 2 K
  • Starling Marte 3-13, 2B, 2 K
  • Mark Canha 2-8, 2 K
  • Brandon Nimmo 3-6, HR, K
  • Francisco Lindor 0-3
  • Pete Alonso 0-2
  • Jeff McNeil 1-1
