Game Preview: Nationals vs Mets

The 2022 Mets finally completed a three game sweep! The New York Mets, who have been playing good baseball the entire season really took the baseball idiom “just keeping winning two out of three” to heart so far this season – as they have basically literally just done that. Nick Castellanos last night hit a three run homer late in the game to put the Phillies in the lead and the game looked more like “hey the Mets won two out of three”. Plummer then hit a solo shot to tie it and Eduardo Escobar won the game in the 10th. These Mets!

Anyway, the Nationals come to town today with the New York Mets still flying high on the excitement of last night. David Peterson will get the start today. So far in five games, four starts, this season he has pitched 25.0 innings with a 2.16 ERA, 3.62 FIP, 1.000 WHIP and a 182 ERA+. He rejoined the Mets rotation his last time out against the Giants and held them to two runs and three hits over six innings. Peterson made one start against the Nationals last season where he held them to one run from two hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings of work. The Mets bats will get another look at Erick Fedde. Over nine starts and 45 2/3 innings this year, Fedde has posted a 3.55 ERA, 4.17 FIP, 1.380 WHIP and a 110 ERA+ (all career bests so far). This is due to his month of May where he allowed six runs from 21 hits and 14 walks over five starts and 27 2/3 innings. That translates into a 1.95 ERA and a 3.93 FIP. His first start of the season was against the Mets who scored twice off of five hits and two walks over five innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Fedde:
