The Mets find a way! The Mets come into tonight’s game on a three game winning streak after beating the Rockies twice yesterday, first 1-0 and then 4-2. It’s pretty much been the same story for the Mets for the last couple two weeks (at least), the pitching is there, the offense isn’t, but the Mets have been able to scratch out more runs then their opponents despite having a lineup and bench on loan from Syracuse.
Now the Mets welcome the Braves who have also been bit by the injury bug (not at the Mets level, but the Mets are dealing with a historic amount of injuries). The Braves are 5-5 over their last 10 and the Mets are 6-4.
Taijuan Walker is set to return to the lineup after hitting the IL with a side issue. He has made 8 starts this season and pitched 44.0 innings with a 2.05 ERA, 2.86 FIP, 0.977 WHIP and a 185 ERA+. His last start was against the Braves where he left early due to injury. He tossed 3.0 innings allowing a hit while striking out 2. The Braves have the following numbers against Walker:
- Freddie Freeman 2-6, K
- Pablo Sandoval 2-6, 2B, BB
- Ender Inciarte 1-6, 2B, 2 K
- Ozzie Albies 0-1
- Dansby Swanson 0-2, K
- Austin Riley 0-1
- Ronald Acuna Jr. 0-2, K
The Mets get a look at Ian Anderson tonight who is picking up where he left off in 2020. Last year in 6 starts and 32.1 innings he had a 1.95 ERA, 2.54 FIP, 1.082 WHIP and a 251 ERA+. In 9 starts and 51.0 innings this year he has a 2.82 ERA, 3.31 FIP, 1.196 WHIP and a 152 ERA+. He got off to a rough start in May, allowing 7 runs over 10.0 innings in two starts, but since then he has allowed 1 run over 12.0 innings. Only two Mets on the active roster have seen him in a game before. Dominic Smith went 0-3 with a strikeout and new Met, Billy McKinney is 0-1.
Let’s Go Mets!
