Game Preview: Marlins vs Mets

Whoa. Last night was bleak.

The Mets finally returned to baseball last night with two 7-inning doubleheaders against the Marlins. The first game, which was mercifully delayed by a storm, was terrible from the start. The Mets started off in a hole and then couldn’t buy a hit with runners in scoring position. There was one bright spot though – Corey Oswalt – who allowed only one hit in 4.0 innings. The second game wasn’t so bad. Lugo had a great start, striking out 5 batters over 3.0 innings allowing nothing. The problem – the Mets couldn’t get any hits.

Anyway the Mets need a new day. Maybe yesterday was rust. What better way to starting a new day with Jacob deGrom! Jacob will make his sixth start of the season today. Over his first 5 starts he has pitched 28.0 innings with a 1.93 ERA, 2.10 FIP (league leading), 0.893 WHIP and a 220 ERA+.
