Game Preview: Nationals vs Mets

As of 5:30 AM, Mickey Callaway is still the manager of the Mets.

Yesterday the Mets lost 3-0 against the Marlins. Swept by the fish, the Mets have looked absolutely lifeless the last couple of days from the plate wasting good outings by starters and relievers. They get a bit of a do-over tonight as the Nationals come to town but it feels like things are spiraling for the Mets.

Although it has been officially stated at the time that the bulk of this article was written, Drew Gagnon is inline to start today, or at minimum, see a good chunk of pitching time tonight. He is 1-0 over 6 games and 11.0 innings this year with a 4.09 ERA, 3.20 FIP, 1.091 WHIP and 97 ERA+. Since his first outing in a rout against the Phillies, he has tossed 5.2 scoreless innings with opponents batting .190 against him. This includes his last long relief outing where he pitched 2.2 innings of 3 hit ball. The Nationals have the following numbers against him:

The Mets bats will get another shot at beating Patrick Corbin. Corbin is 4-1 over 9 starts and 58.2 innings with a 2.91 ERA, 3.11 FIP, 1.040 WHIP and a 152 ERA+. In his last two starts he has tossed 15.0 innings allowing 1 run over 7 hits with 5 walks. One of those two starts was against the Mets who he beat in his last start by throwing 8.0 innings of 1 run ball. The Mets have the following numbers against Corbin:
