With a diving catch to end the game in extra innings, Nimmo and the Mets beat the Giants 2-1 as they head into today’s match. For a second straight game in a row a Mets starting pitcher pitched 7.0 innings allowing only 1 run (this time it was Matz) but the Mets offense was ice cold. They were able to squeak out a run on a Todd Frazier sacrifice fly.
Today Noah Syndergaard looks to keep the good pitching trend this week going. He is 9-3 over 19 games and 112.2 innings with a 3.51 ERA, 2.62 FIP, 1.278 WHIP and 105 ERA+. August wasn’t Noah’s month so hopefully September brings out a better side of him. He finished 6 games and 38.0 innings in August with a 4.74 ERA with 34 K’s. His best start of the month was against the Giants where he allowed 2 runs over 6.0 innings from 5 hits and a walk. The Giants have the following numbers against him:
- Belt 0-11, 4 BB
- Crawford 2-12, 2 BB
- Panik 4-12
- Pence 1-8, HR
- Longorio 2-6
- Blanco 0-3
- Hundley 0-3
The Mets bats will continue their soul search this weekend against Chris Stratton who is 9-7 over 22 games, 21 starts and 115.1 innings with a 4.99 ERA, 4.31 FIP, 1.457 WHIP, and a 79 ERA+. He is coming off his best start all season against the Diamondbacks where he tossed 8.0 shutout innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 6. Before that start he allowed only 2 runs over 6.1 innings against the Mets from 6 hits. The Mets have the following numbers against him:
- Conforto 0-2, K
- Flores 2-3, 2B
- Jackson 1-3
- McNeil 3-3
- Rosario 0-3
- Plawecki 0-2
- Reyes 0-2
Let’s Go Mets!
