Game Preview: Mets @ Dodgers

The Mets are in the midst of a classic west coast swing featuring the two teams that made the Mets, the Mets. Yesterday the Mets took the series against the Giants thanks to a complete game masterpiece by Noah Syndergaard and tonight they turn to their ace to beat the Dodgers.

Jacob deGrom is 8-8 over 27 starts and 182.0 innings with a 1.68 ERA (league leading), 2.02 FIP (league leading). 0.978 WHIP and a 218 ERA+ (league leading). In his last three starts he has allowed 4 runs, 2 earned over 23.0 innings which is a 0.78 ERA while striking out 29 batters. One of deGrom’s more average starts of the year was against the Dodgers where he allowed 3 runs over 6.0 innings from 5 hits and 3 walks. The Dodgers have the following numbers against him:

  • Pederson 2-14, 2B, 6 BB

The Mets bats will get a chance against Alex Wood who is 8-6 over 25 games and 139.1 innings with a 3.42 ERA, 3.50 FIP, 1.170 WHIP and a 114 ERA+. In four starts in August he allowed 6 runs, 5 earned over 22.0 innings, a 2.05 ERA. In one of those starts he allowed 3 runs over 4.0 innings so his other three were quite good.
