Game Preview: Mets @ Marlins

The Mets dropped last night’s game in extras and now the Mets find themselves in a rubber game on a Sunday in Miami. Corey Oswalt was serviceable last night, a victim again of defensive miscues as the difference makers and the Mets offense was hot early and then cooled off fast. Syndergaard will look today to heat everything up.

Syndergaard is 7-2 over 15 games with 88.0 innings with a 3.17 ERA, 2.71 FIP, 1.216 WHIP with a 119 ERA+. Syndergaard was human in last start against the Reds allowing 4 runs over 6.1 innings from 6 hits and a walk while striking out 6. Way back in April Noah made a start in Miami where he allowed 2 runs, 1 earned over 6.0 innings from 5 hits and 2 walks. The Marlins have the following numbers against Thor:

  • Dietrich 6-15, 2 2B, 2 K
  • Realmuto 1-8, BB
  • Castro 2-8, 2B
  • Rojas 4-7
  • Prado 1-6
  • Anderson 1-3, 2B
  • Lee 1-3

The Mets bats will get a look at Wei-Yin Chen who is 4-8 over 18 games and 88.2 innings this year with a 5.48 ERA, 4.97 FIP, 1.432 WHIP and 68 ERA+. He had a poor stretch of four games from July 7th-30th where he posted a 6.75 ERA over 21.1 innings. His last start was strong though where he allowed no runs over 5.2 innings. He hasn’t faced the Mets yet this year but last year he faced the Mets in back to back starts. His first one was great for the Marlins allowing 1 run over 6.0 innings from 7 hits and a walk. His second one was great for the mets allowing 6 runs over 3.0 innings from 7 hits. The Mets have the following numbers against Chen:

  • Reyes 4-15, 2B
  • Jackson 1-11, 2 BB
  • Bautista 3-9, HR
  • Flores 3-7, HR
