Game Preview: Mets @ Marlins

The Mets look to build off last night’s win in Miami tonight behind Corey Oswalt. Last night Wheeler continued his resurgence allowing only 2 runs over 7.0 innings off 4 hits while striking out 8 (both runs coming in his last inning) and Lugo/Smith pitched a clean sheet behind him. The offense responded by scoring 6 runs off 13 hits including a three hit day by Rosario and Jackson and a two hit day by Flores and Frazier.

The Mets will get another look at Corey Oswalt who is 1-2 over 33.1 innings from 7 games and 6 starts recording a 5.13 ERA, 5.40 FIP, 1.050 WHIP and 74 ERA+. He’s coming off an average start against the Braves where he allowed 3 runs over 6.0 innings and since July 4th he has posted a 3.81 ERA over 26.0 innings. His only really bad outing this year, off weird rest, came in Miami on June 29th where he allowed 6 runs over 2.2 innings. The Marlins have the following numbers against him:

  • Anderson 1-2
  • Bour 1-2
  • Castro 1-2
  • Dietrich 0-0, 2 BB
  • Realmuto 1-2
  • Riddle 1-2, HR

The bats will look to continue the hits from yesterday against Dan Straily who is 4-5 over 18 games and 93.0 innings with a 4.35 ERA, 5.45 FIP, 1.387 WHIP and a 86 ERA+. His last time out he allowed 2 runs off 1 hit over 5.1 innings, which was a rebound from his previous start where he allowed 8 runs, 5 earned over 3.1 innings. In April he had a good start against the Mets where he allowed 1 run over 6.0 innings and then at the start of July he allowed 3 runs over 7.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

  • Reyes 2-12, 4 BB
  • Bautista 1-13, HR, BB
