The Mets were set to start their series with the Cardinals last night but the weather gods had other ideas, so the Mets have blessed the faithful today with an old-fashion single admission double header. The first game features the same set up as yesterday, so forgive me as I just copy and paste yesterday’s preview:
Noah Syndergaard will start the series off for the Mets. In 19 games and 18 starts this year he is 9-4 over 111.1 innings with a 2.43 ERA with 136 K’s. His last start, his first since the All Star break, was solid as he allowed 1 run, no earned over 5.2 innings while striking out 8. He faced the Cardinals once last year allowed 2 earned runs over 7.0 innings while striking out 6 in a game the Mets eventually lost. The Cards have the following numbers against Thor:
- Grichuk 0-2
- Gyorko 0-3
- Holliday 0-3
- Molina 0-3

The Mets draw Carlos Martinez tonight who is currently putting up better numbers than his All-Star year last year. He is 9-6 over 18 games and 114.1 innings of work with a 2.83 ERA. In his last 7 starts he is 3-1 (the team is 3-4) with a 1.52 ERA over 47.1 innings. He was quite good against the Mets last year allowing 2 runs, 1 earned over 10.1 innings of work while striking out 7. The Mets have the following numbers against Carlos:

After a strong outing coming back from the All-Star Break, Colon just didn’t have it in Chicago on the 20th where he allowed 6 ER over 4.1 innings against the Cubs. Last year, Colon didn’t have much success against the Cardinals as he allowed 16 runs, 15 earned over 8.2 innings of work. The Cardinals have the following numbers against Colon:
- Holliday 7-16, 2 2B
- Molina 2-13, 2B
- Adams 2-12, HR
- Wong 4-11
- Grichuk 1-3, 2B
- Martinez 0-2
- Gyorko 1-2
Jaime Garcia is 7-6 over 19 starts this year with a 3.98 ERA over 113.0 innings. Since June 8th, he has going 3-1 over 8 starts and 48.1 innings with a 4.66 ERA with a smattering of strong starts but an equal amount of poor starts. Last year he picked up the loss against the Mets after allowing 2 runs in 7.0 innings of work. The Mets have the following numbers against Garcia:
- Reyes 4-17, 2B
- Loney 4-8, 2B
- K Johnson 1-5
