Last night seemed like a carbon copy of last year for the Mets with regards to Gio Gonzalez (who has been dominant against the Mets). Coupled with a wild Colon, something we haven’t seen in a while, it was just a bad night for the Amazin’s. However they still get the rubber game tonight with Stephen Strasburg vs Matt Harvey.
Matt Harvey is looking to put his season back together. He’s 3-5 over 8 starts and 45.2 innings with a 4.93 ERA while striking out 41 batters. His last start was potentially the worst of the season and it came on the heals of the best start of the season. On May 8th he went 6.0 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, while striking out 1-. Then on May 13th he went 5.2 innings, allowing 11 hits and 5 earned runs. Last year Harvey was 2-2 against the Nationals over 6 starts with a 2.31 ERA over 39.0 innings. The Nationals have the following numbers facing Harvey:
- Harper 0-20, 7 K
- Werth 4-19, 2B
- Taylor 4-18, 2B
- Zimmerman 4-17, 2B, HR
- Rendon 4-13
- Robinson 4-11, 2B
- Revere 2-10
Strasburg is having a strong season, possibly he’s best season. He’s 6-0 with a 2.95 ERA over 8 starts and 55.0 innings of work. He has been more human in his last 5 starts pitching 33.1 innings with a 4.05 ERA. Last year he was 1-2 when facing off against the Mets pitching 18.0 innings with a 4.00 ERA. The Mets have put up the following numbers vs Stephen over his career:
- Wright 6-22
- Duda 2-12, HR
- Granderson 3-13
- Lagares 2-12
- Walker 3-11
- Harvey 0-5
- Cespedes 1-3
Let’s Go Mets!
