The Mets look to keep on winning tonight as Bartolo Colon vs Brandon Finnegan. Last night was another power show for the Mets as they smashed three homers to back Syndergaard and the bullpen to take the series opener. Neil Walker moved farther into the record books with his 8th homer of the month and Familia finally had a clean 9th inning. It wasn’t all smiles though as d’Arnaud felt discomfort in his sholder and had to be removed from the game (as of 5:25 AM this morning, there wasn’t much known about his injury).
Bartolo Colon is 1-1 over 4 games and 3 starts logging 18.2 innings with a 2.89 ERA allowing 18 hits and 2 walks with 17 strikeouts. Colon hasn’t faced the Reds since 2014 where he allowed 2 ER and 7 hits over 7.0 innings. The Reds have the following numbers against Colon:
- Phillips 2-15
- Bruce 1-5, HR
- Hamilton 1-4
- Mesoraco 1-3, HR
- Pacheco 2-3, 2B
- Cozart 1-1
- Votto 2-2
Brandon Finnegan is only the second lefty starter the Mets have faced in 2016 (something you’ll hear a lot, probably, in today’s broadcast). Brandon is 1-1 over 4 games and 21.2 innings with a 3.74 ERA this season while walking 12 and striking out 18. He looked great in his first two starts (12.2 innings, 4 runs) and not so great in his last two (9.0 innings, 9 runs, 5 earned). Last year he went 5-2 over 20 games, 4 starts, split between the Royals and the Reds logging a 3.56 ERA. He’s never faced the Mets before but a few Mets have seen him while with other teams:
- Cespedes 0-4
- De Aza 2-3
- Cabrera 0-2
Let’s Go Mets!
