Double-Header Game Preview: Nationals vs Mets

The Dodgers won yesterday and now there is some pressure for the Mets to keep pace in order to maintain the homefield advantage. The Mets and Nationals were rained out like most east coast cities last night, and they will try to get two games in today with a Day Night doubleheader. The first game will feature Noah Syndergaard vs Gio Gonzalez and the second game will have Matt Harvey vs Max Scherzer.

Noah Syndergaard is 9-7 over 23 games over 143.0 innings with a 3.34 ERA with a 156 K’s. He had a good bounce back start his last time in Cincy, on the day before clinching day, with 7.2 innings with 2 ER while striking out 11. He has held the Nationals to 3 ER over 13.0 innings this year with 13 K’s. The Nationals have the following numbers against Noah:

Gio Gonzalez is on the bump for the Nationals tonight. He is 11-8 over 30 starts and 169.2 innings with a 3.93 ERA. This will be his 6th start of September where he has logged 28.0 innings with a 2.89 ERA. He’s 2-0 over 3 starts against hte Mets with a 1.53 ERA over 17.2 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Gio:

He shocked everyone last Saturday on clinching day where he pitched into the 7th inning with 6 strikeouts saying that he wants to pitch.
