Last night was fun! Let’s do it again.
Jacob deGrom had an off night allowing 7 runs over around 3 innings. The Mets ended up putting up a 16 spot. The Mets scoring started in the top of the 2nd with the return of David Wright smacking the ball deep out of the park (Mets down 3-1). And then the homers kept coming, two from Flores and one each from Cuddyer, Cespedes, d’Arnaud, Murphy and Lagares (a Mets record). Plus, the Mets got brilliant relief from Gilmartin.
Noah Syndergaard will try to give the bullpen a rest tonight. He is 7-6 on the season over 18 starts with 110.2 innings with a 3.17 ERA. He is in a bit of a rough stretch where he has pitched 16.0 innings allowing 11 ER (still with 17 strikeouts though). His first start against someone not in the NL Central was the Phillies where he shut them out over 7.1 innings. The Phillies have the following numbers against him:
- Galvis 0-3
- Herrera 0-3
- Howard 0-3
- Rupp 1-3
The Mets will get another look at Jerome Williams. Jerome is 4-9 over 20 starts with a 6.10 ERA while pitching 100.1 innings. He is coming off his worst start of the year where he allowed 8 ER over 1.2 innings in Miami. In two starts against the Mets this year he pitched 11.0 innings allowing 8 runs, 7 earned. The Mets have the following numbers against Williams:
- K Johnson 9-25, 2B
- Granderson 2-13, HR
- Cespedes 3-13, HR
- Lagares 2-8
- Cuddyer 4-7, 2B
- d’Arnaud 2-6, HR
Let’s Go Mets!
