The Mets look to move beyond a disappointing series in San Diego by trying to pick up the pieces against the Diamondbacks. After winning the first game of the Padres series in a dominant 7-0 fashion, the Mets have dropped the last two games by a score of 7-2 and 7-3. Tonight Matt Harvey looks to stop that.
Matt Harvey is 5-3 with a 3.11 ERA over 10 starts and 66.2 innings with 71 strikeouts. Harvey just made one mistake against the Marlins, which is why he had 4 ER over 8.0 innings. He managed to strikeout 11 batters and went deep into the game. It was his second loss in a row, and his 5th start in a row without a winning decision. In 2013 he faced the Diamondbacks once and it wasn’t pretty as he allowed 5 ER over 6.0 innings. Arizona has the following numbers against Matt:
- Hill 3-7
- Delgado 1-3
- Goldschmidt 0-3
- Pennington 1-3
The Mets bats will have to deal with Jeremy Hellickson who is 3-3 over 10 starts and 56.2 innings this season with a 5.08 ERA. In his last three starts he is 2-0 over 18.2 innings with a 3.38 ERA, so substantially better than his season numbers. The last time he faced the Mets was way back in 2012 and it was a night to forget if you like Jeremy. He allowed 8 ER over 9 hits in 3.2 innings of work. The Mets have the following numbers against him:
- Granderson 2-15, 2B, HR
- Cuddyer 2-8, 2B, HR
- Duda 1-2, 2B
- Murphy 0-2
Lets Go Mets!
