Game Preview: Marlins vs Mets

The Mets offense is odd. They hit two homers last night, but they scored only 3 runs. Its so close to actually clicking, but not just yet. Anyway the Mets lost the opener to the Marlins and they hope to rebound this afternoon.

Jon Niese is 3-5 on the season over 9 starts and 53.0 innings with a 4.08 ERA. It has been a struggle for Niese as of late. In his last three starts he has pitched 16.0 innings and has allowed 16 earned runs. So far this year he has completely missed the Marlins. Last year he was 2-0 in 3 starts against the Fish with a 4.26 ERA over 19.0 innings. The Marlins have the following numbers against Jon:

  • Prado 6-32, 4 2B, 3B
  • Stanton 11-27, 2B, 3 HR
  • Baker 8-20, 2B
  • Hechavarria 4-14
  • Solano 5-14, 2 2B
  • Ozuna 4-10, 2B
  • Yelich 4-10, 2B

The Mets bats will try to put it all together against Tom Koehler who is 3-3 over 10 games, 9 starts and 55.0 innings with a 3.44 ERA. In his last 4 games (3 starts) he has pitched 22.0 innings with a 0.82 ERA, so he is really putting it together now. His only start against the Mets this year was a disaster for him as he allowed 7 ER over 3.1 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Tom:

  • Duda 2-20, 2B
  • Lagares 5-21, 3B
  • Tejada 5-18, 3 2B
  • Granderson 1-11
  • Recker 0-8
