Game Preview: Mets @ Marlins

The Mets head to Miami tonight to jump back on the winning track. Yesterday they dropped a disappointing series finale to the Yankees 6-4 behind 4 defensive errors. Even throughout the winning streak, this has been a thorn in the Mets side in the infield. The Mets are making either errors, mental miscues that don’t show up as errors and a decreased range across the diamond.

Dillon Gee is coming off his best start of the season as the Mets roll into Miami. He is 0-1 over 3 starts with a 5.60 ERA and 17.2 innings of work. In his last start against Atlanta he tossed 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs while walking only 1 and striking out 3. He also already has one start against the Marlins this year where he allowed 4 ER over 5.2 innings while walking 2 and striking out 7. The Marlins have the following numbers against Gee:

  • Prado 7-28, 2 2B, HR
  • Stanton 2-11, 2 HR
  • Morse 2-12, 2B
  • Ozuna 5-12
  • Solano 3-9
  • Hechavarria 1-8
  • Gordon 2-6

The Mets bats will try to break out against Jarred Cosart who is 1-1 on the season over three starts with a 3.63 ERA over 17.1 innings. His last start against the Phillies was identical to his first start against the Rays as his best starts of the season going 6.0 innings allowing only 1 run. His blemish start this year has been against the Mets where he allowed 5 ER over 5.1 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Cosart:

  • Duda 2-5, 2 2B
  • Granderson 0-6
  • Murphy 2-6
  • Flores 3-5, 2B, HR
  • Lagares 2-4
