Spring Training Game 4: Mets Make Late Comeback, Fall Short

The first of the two games the Mets played on Saturday saw them go into a deep hole, and then almost come out of it as the Mets lost 8-7 to the Marlins. Here are key take-aways from the game:

  • Muno went 2-3, 2 R. He’s getting a lot of looks early this spring
  • Allen 1-4, 2 R, BB, HR, 3 RBI. This year he’s a little farther down the first base depth chart, so early opportunities are important
  • Campbell 2-4, R, RBI
  • Matz had two clean innings with 2 K’s
  • Montero allowed 4 hits and 2 ER, 2 BB over 1.1 innings
  • Leather Rocket got one out and allowed 5 earned
  • Gee had a scoreless 2.2 with one hit

Stocks on the rise:

  • Soup continues to show that he should be that 25th player on the roster.
  • Gee has been good so far in camp

Stocks that are falling:

  • Tejada had another 0-for something day at the plate
  • Leather Rocket had a bad start in a spring where he is trying to be come the second LHP
  • With so many starters trying to break in, Montero did not need the start he had
