Game Preview: Marlins vs Mets

The Mets conclude their series with the Marlins tonight as the Mets look to win their fifth game in their last six and take the four game set from the fish. After sweeping the doubleheader on Monday, the Mets lost 6-0 to the fish yesterday. Tonight the Mets will look at Capuano to pave the way for a victory again as he takes on Volstad.

Capuano made one of the best starts in Mets history last Friday as pitched a two hitter, complete game shutout where he walked no one and struck out a career high of 13 batters. On the season he is now 10-11 with a 4.43 ERA. He is 0-2 in 20.1 innings of work against the Marlins this year where he has posted an ERA of 4.87. The Marlins have the following numbers against him:

Cameron 4-13, 2 HR

Infante 5-13, 3B, 2 HR

Morrison 4-12, HR

Sanchez 5-12, 2 2B, HR

The Mets bats will get a crack at Chris Volstad tonight who is 5-11 this season with a 5.61 ERA. In his last three starts he is 0-3 with a 5.82 ERA. He has only made one start against the Mets this season where he pitched 5 innings, allowed 8 hits and 4 runs, 3 earned. The Mets have the following numbers on Volstad:

Wright 5-14, 3 2B

Pagan 1-7, 2B

Duda 2-3

Reyes 2-9
