Some quick hits to go with your Tuesday Morning Buttered Toast:
2) Ryan Howard signed a 5 year extension worth 125 million. That means his extension starts when he is 32 and continues until he is 37. Thats a lot of money when you think about it. Yes Howard is a great player but they had to guarantee him 25 a year two years before he becomes a free agent. There is supposed to be some sort of home team discount. Also 50 mil is a lot of money for a 36 and 37. Anyway, now all the talk is how much Pujols will be able to demand because if Howard can get 25 a year, then Pujols should get 30.
3) The Braves, Phillies and Nationals all lost last night. The Marlins pounced the Padres. Because of this, the Marlins are now a half a game out of first place while the Mets are just one game out.
4) The Cubs have won four straight since losing a four game set to the Mets.
5) Speaking of the Cubs, the Yankees went to go visit the White House yesterday to celebrate their title. So the Cubs should have nothing to do with that right? Well Obama made a comment on how a nine year title drought must have felt like an eternity for Yankee fans and that other teams would welcome that….like the Cubs.
