Mets Breakfast: Streaks, Division Stats, Maine

Some quick hits to go with your Monday Morning Coffee:

1) The Mets beat the Braves 1-0 nothing last night as they extend their winning streak to 4 games and 6-1 on the current homestand. For the first time this season they swept a team. Other notes: the game lasted only 5 full innings due to rain and Pelfrey continued his scoreless streak and his record to 4-0. Pelfrey now has a part of 5 of the Mets 10 wins.

2) The win yesterday, Washington's win and Florida's loss collapsed the division again. The Mets are now in a three way tie for second place with the Nationals and Florida. All three teams are 1.5 games behind the division leading Phillies. The Braves are not too far behind as they are 3.0 games behind the Phils.

3) As of now it looks like Maine will be making his start on Wednesday. Which means another set of “Do or Die” articles regarding John Maine pitching on this team. Of interesting note, Gee's rotation spot could possible occur at the same time.

4) The Mets send out Perez to start a series against the Dodgers tonight.

5) Due to the quick game last night, the Mets didn't use Feliciano or Nieve. Shocking.
