Most teams have played now somewhere between 13-15 games this season and the results to some degree have been surprising. Teams that were projected to get off to a fast start have struggled while some unexpected teams have risen to the top of the division. However, baseball is a marathon, and in April/May the goal is to win ball games. As long as a team is winning, it will pay off in the end. Anyway here are some of the notes from the standings:
1) Both the NL East and the NL West are seperated by 2.5 and 2.0 games respectively top to bottom. At this time of the year, close standings are the norm, but these standings are really close.
2) The Padres have tied the Giants (the last team this season to lose a game) for the division lead. Yes, the Padres lead the NL West.
3) The Orioles dropped to 2-13 yesterday. They are at least 3.5 games behind every other team in the league.
4) The Yankees have the best record in the league at 10-3 with two other teams (Rays, Twins) following at 10-4.
5) There are 0 teams in the National League with 10 wins yet (there are also 0 teams in the National league 10 losses yet)
6) Who's second in the NL Central? The Pirates. Really.
7) Four teams in the NL Central are below .500. In the AL Central, one team is above .500, one is at it, the rest are below
