Spring Training Game 5: Nieve, Figueora Make a Run at the Rotation

This game featured the other two pitchers trying to get into the starting rotation and they made some strong cases. For Nieve, he went 3.0 innings, allowed a run, walked two and struck out two. Figueora went 4.0 innings allowing only one hit, and struck out 5. Before this week a lot of people basically had Figueora in the deep three spot for trying to get the fifth stater position, but you have to think now with two impressive performances he is making that race a tight one.

General offense notes:

GMJ went 1-3 as he continues to tear up Spring pitching with a .375 BA
Jacobs went 0-2 still looking for his first spring hit.
Fmart had a great day going 2-4, R, RBI
Tejeda 2-4, R

Another good day for the Mets, lets hope today is the same.
