Many Things To Be Happy About After Yesterday's Game

There are many things to be happy about after yesterday's 7-2 win over the Padres. The big story right off the bat is that Oliver Perez turned around and he just had a dazzling start. He was working all of his pitches and he was able to get out of trouble (like in the first inning). He also showed a lot of emotion last night (like when he struck out on what would have been ball 4 and slammed his bat on the ground) that should show to all Mets fans out there that he really cares. A lot of his success belongs also to the Mets management. They took him out the right time. We all know how it goes with Perez that all it takes is one bad pitch in a late inning and he starts to unravel. By taking him out after 6, we got a great start out of him, and what that will benefit him in the long run.

The other thing I was happy about was how the Mets recovered from yesterday's blunder in the OF with that strange play that seemed planned with Murphy throwing to Reyes throwing to home. After that, if the patter continued from the last few games, the Mes should have gone hitless. Instead they load the bases and they get everyone home. The first time they loaded the bases, they got a sac fly and a hit to bring home two runs. The second time they played heads up baseball scoring 3 runs on 2 wild pitches including Reyes going first to home on a WP, something that I have never seen before and so glad that I got an opportunity to see.

Finally, we saw the first of what should be a lot of Carlos Delgado crushed homers to the right field portch. That Porch looks like it is tailor made for his swing and might be what causes the Mets to never consider bring the left field wall down or in.
