Just when the Mets were getting on a nice streak, winning a few series, and starting to distance themselves from the .500 line, all of their work gets erased in one series where they failed to win a game out of four games. The first thing that really frustrates me out of these four games is that on 3 of them, the Mets to outstanding pitching performances. As a team they had an ERA of 2.00 for those three games. The Mets could not do anything with that! I am not blaming Reyes, but when for some reason, this team lives and dies with Reyes' bat. When he does well, the team does well, when he doesn't, the team doesn't. David Wright wasn't helping these past four days that much either. The offense would be better if it wasn't for all of the injuries that are affecting it. Without Alou and Chuch (and Pagan), the team is struggling out there with making Chavez and Tatis play every day. I am sure this recent stretch has produced more than enough red flags to Omar that he should be looking for a player with a good bat, that can play LF, RF and 1B (or at least two of those positions).
Yesterday and today were the first days in a while that I have woken up without that good feeling about the Mets, that feeling that was so evident before the Marlins series before the team started to turn things around. The good thing right now is that the team gets a day off, the first one in a while and hopefully they will be fully rested for their key series at home with the Dbacks when they will try to get back on track. The dynamics of this team have changed a lot since they win at home and not on the road. (Unlike the past couple of years). Lets hope for some consistent baseball.
